1. Why does the display on my handset read, "No Link to Base"?
To resolve this issue, you have to re-register the handset.- To do this on a non-expandable cordless phone:
Press and hold the LOCATOR/INTERCOM button on the Base until a beep sounds.
Press and hold the FLASH/CALL WAIT button on the Handset until a beep is heard.
When registration is complete, a beep sounds from the handset.
Wait for 20 seconds after registration is complete to allow the handset to establish communications with the base.
If this fails to help:
Remove the AC Adapter from the phone base or wall outlet for a few seconds and reconnect. It may also be necessary to remove the battery from the handset for a brief moment.
- To do this on a expandable cordless phone system:
Press and hold the LOCATOR/INTERCOM button for the extension that is displaying "No Link To Base" on the Base until a beep sounds.
Press and hold the FLASH/CALL WAIT button on the Handset that is displaying "No Link To Base" until a beep is heard.
When registration is complete, a beep sounds from the handset.
Wait for 20 seconds after registration is complete to allow the handset to establish communications with the base.
If this fails to help:

2. My handset is in a foreign language. How can I set it to English if I don't understand what the display says?
On all 2004 models (except the KX-TG1486, KX-TG2302 & KX-TG2322) you can quickly change the language to English by doing the following:- Press the MENU button on the handset.
- Press 0-8-1 on the handset keypad.
- Press the soft key under the word "SAVE" that appears on the LCD screen.
- Press OFF.
3. Why can't I hear the key tones when I am dialing?
You can activate the key tones by performing the following procedure:- Press the MENU button on the handset.
- Press 0-2-1 on the handset keypad.
- Press the soft key under the word "SAVE" that appears on the LCD screen.
- Press OFF
4. Why does my melody ringer continue to play when a different phone is answered?
It is normal for any of the melody rings on the handset or base (depending on model) to continue to finish its melody ring even after a different phone is answered. If this is unwanted, then switch to one of the 3 different ring-tone settings.
5. Can I set the intercom or page ring to a Melody?
No, neither the intercom nor page ring can be changed.
6. How can I stop my lighted antenna from flashing?
Some phones have a lighted antenna to alert you when there is a new voice message (either on the answering machine, for models with built-in answering machines, or if you have a new voicemail message from your local telephone company's voicemail service). To stop the blinking antenna light, listen to either the new messages on the answering machine or to your new voicemail messages. Once all the new message have been heard or erased, the light will stop blinking and stay off until new messages are recorded. Note: there is no audible tone alert.
7. The Talking Caller ID feature is not working even though it is set to ON. Why?
Talking Caller ID will only work if you subscribe to Caller ID service from your telephone company. If you are a subscriber, then make sure the handset and/or base ringer is ON. If the ringer is set to OFF on either the base or handset, you will not be able to hear Talking Caller ID from the base or handset who's ringer is turned off.
8. Why don't I hear the second caller's information when I am on the phone and get a Call Waiting interrupt/beep?
The phone is designed to only announce the initial incoming call and NOT the Call Waiting call.
9. My Caller ID shows 11 digits even from local area codes. How can I have the Caller ID List show 7 digits?
Make sure the Auto Edit Feature is ON in the handset menu. The factory default setting is ON.
Use the Auto Edit feature available on all 2002, 2003 and 2004 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz models with the Caller ID feature. You must edit and call at least one phone number from each necessary area code. To do this:- Scroll through the Caller List to get the desired number you wish to edit.
- Edit that particular number using the EDIT button or the soft key under the EDIT command in the display. Each time you press the EDIT button, it will edit that number to 7 digits, 10 digits or 11 digits.
- Once you've selected one of the 3 phone number patterns that you want, press the TALK or SPEAKER PHONE buttonon the handset and let the phone dial that number.
After the handset dials that particular number, all entries of that area code in the Caller List will be edited to the pattern you chose. Do this for all necessary area codes that require editing from your Caller List. All new calls to the Caller List will be edited to the chosen pattern until you turn the Auto Edit Feature OFF. It is recommended to leave the Auto Edit Feature ON unless you move to a new area that has different local area codes.
10. I am not getting the other caller's information when I am on a call. I have Call Waiting from the phone company and my Caller ID works on the initial incoming call. How can I get the second call information?
Do you have any other phones in the home getting the second caller's information? If not, you should ask if the phone company has activated this feature. Call Waiting Caller ID has to be activated by the phone company even if they have both of these features. Some phone companies will not activate this feature automatically since the Call Waiting Caller ID interrupt has either a beep or a click in the interrupt. Contact your local phone company to activate this feature if necessary.
