 1. What is DVD-RAM/DVD-R Recording? Our DVD Camcorders are compatible with either DVD-RAM or DVD-R, giving you multiple recording and playback options. DVD-R discs are tough and versatile, and can be played back on most home DVD players. However, DVD-RAM discs allow you to record and erase, just like videotapes. DVD-RAM discs can be played back in compatible devices, like DVD players and computers.
2. Can you record onto DVD discs? Yes. Our DVD Camcorders record onto single-sided (1.4GB1) or double-sided (2.8GB1) 8cm DVD-R/DVD-RAM discs.
3. Will the image quality degrade with frequent playback? No. Since DVD Camcorders use a "non-contact" method to record and play, repeated playback doesn't affect the image quality like it can with videotape. Your favorite videos and images can be kept for years without any loss of quality. Plus, DVD-RAM discs can be rewritten approximately 100,000 times, making them an economical and ideal choice for repeated recording.
4. How can I control unwanted movement when recording? The Digital Electronic Image Stabilization (D-EIS) feature helps you compensate for unintentional hand and camcorder movement to help stabilize your recordings.
5. Can I record still images with my DVD Digital Camcorder? Yes. In addition to moving images, our DVD Camcorders can record breathtaking still images up to 1.2 megapixels, depending on the model. These images can be stored on the same DVD-RAM disc as your video recordings, enabling you to store all your memories from a special event conveniently in one place. You can also store your still photos on an SD memory card and then transfer them to a compatible PC for retouching or emailing.
