1.Can I force the Showstopper to connect without waiting for it to dial on its own late at night?

1. Why is there a delay between picture and sound?
The Panasonic ShowStopper Hard Disk Recorder plays back a picture that is delayed from real time. When using an Audio/Video Receiver or Home Theater Receiver, ensure the Audio output jacks of the Panasonic ShowStopper Hard Disk Recorder are connected directly to your receiver. Next ensure both the Audio and Video cables from your Satellite or Cable Box have been connected directly to the Panasonic ShowStopper Hard Disk Recorder.

2. Why is there little or no volume when using my cable box or satellite receiver as my input source?
The cable box or satellite box you are using may have Variable Audio Output jacks. This means the volume control of your cable box or satellite box determines how much volume is going to be received by the Panasonic ShowStopper Hard Disk Recorder. Using the remote control for the cable box or satellite box, press the volume up button to increase the sound to the desired level.

1. Why does my Channel Guide say "No Information Available" when I press the Channel Guide button?
Some dialing or input settings may have changed. First, press the [MENU] button on the remote control. Next, use the arrow buttons on the remote control to highlight the option for "Setup" and then press the [SELECT] button. Next, use the arrow buttons to highlight the option for "Change Dialing and Input Settings" and then press the [SELECT] button.

If any information has changed, you will get a screen that displays "Some dialing and input information has changed or is no longer available. Please update all dialing and input settings." The option "Update all settings" will be highlighted. Press the [SELECT] button to continue. If the telephone number you were using has changed, the menu will prompt you to pick a new number from the list. If the cable or satellite company has changed or updated their lineup, then the menu will prompt you to pick your correct lineup from the list of available cable and satellite channel lineups.

After making the changes, select the option for "Keep all settings" and the machine will dial out and set the new input selections.

2. Why is my channel guide not showing the correct channels for my cable system?
The channel guide for your cable or satellite company has changed their lineup since your initial setup of the Panasonic ShowStopper Hard Disk Recorder.

Depending on your setup (cable, cable box, satellite, or local antenna) you will highlight "Change Line 1", "Change Line 2", or "Change ANT/CATV" and then press the [SELECT] button. Check the connections on the back of your Panasonic ShowStopper Hard Disk Recorder to determine what connections you have already made.

Depending on the input you choose, you will be asked to choose if you are using Cable, Cable Box, Satellite, or Antenna. If using Cable or Satellite, the menu will prompt you to pick your correct lineup from the list of available cable and satellite channel lineups. Hint: when there are multiple lineups for your cable company highlight one of the lineups and then press the Right Arrow button on the remote control. This will allow you to preview that lineup to help you choose the correct lineup.

After making the changes, follow through with the rest of the instructions and when you get back to the screen headed "Setup Summary", select the option for "Keep all settings" and the machine will dial out and set the new input selections.

3. Why is my channel guide not showing digital channels for my cable service?
The Digital Lineup for your cable company was not selected during the initial setup of your Panasonic ShowStopper Hard Disk Recorder.

To correct, press the [MENU] button on the remote control. Next, use the arrow buttons on the remote control to highlight the option for "Setup" and then press the [SELECT] button. Next, use the arrow buttons to highlight the option for "Change Dialing and Input Settings" and then press the [SELECT] button.

After selecting the correct input, you will be prompted to choose what is connected to that input. Highlight "Cable Box" and then press the [SELECT] button. Next, the menu will prompt you to pick your correct lineup from the list of available cable channel lineups. Choose the cable lineup that ends with (Digital).

4. My cable company recently changed their channel lineup. Why doesn't my Panasonic ShowStopper Hard Disk Recorder reflect the new channel information?
The Panasonic ShowStopper Hard Disk Recorder cannot automatically choose the correct lineup if there are multiple lineups available from your cable company, or if your cable company has altered the channel lineup since your initial setup.

5. I have Dish Network and my local channels are in the channel 8000-9999 numbers. Why don't they appear in the Showstopper Channel guide?
The Panasonic ShowStopper Hard Disk Recorder cannot display the 8000-9999 channels in its channel guide. Instead, the Showstopper software "re-maps" the channels to the next available spots in its channel guide, which is usually in the range of 800-999. Find your local stations by the local station's Call Letters (for example WXYZ, WABC, KTTY, etc), not by the channel number. Even though your Panasonic ShowStopper Hard Disk Recorder has reassigned your local channels, it will still access the correct channel from your satellite box.

If you still cannot find your local channels, confirm that you have selected the local package for Dish Network or DirecTV. Depending on your setup, you will highlight "Change Line 1", "Change Line 2", or "Change ANT/CATV" and then press the [SELECT] button. Check the connections on the back of your Panasonic ShowStopper Hard Disk Recorder to determine what connections you have already made. After selecting the correct input, you will be prompted to choose what is connected to that input. Highlight "Satellite Box" and then press the [SELECT] button. The menu will then prompt you to pick your correct lineup from the list of available Satellite channel lineups. Choose the Satellite lineup that ends with the city your local channels are coming from. After making the changes, follow through with the rest of the instructions and, when you get back to the screen headed "Setup Summary", select the option for "Keep all settings." This will make the machine dial out and set the new input selections.
