1. I saw on the web that there is a firmware update for my model BD player. How do I see which firmware version is installed in my unit?

After turning the unit on, press the “Setup” button on the unit’s remote control. Once in “Setup,” use the down arrow and highlight “Display” and press OK. Next, press the “Status” button on the remote and the firmware version will be displayed on the lower right hand side of the displayed menu.

2. What should I do if my BD Player is displaying “Copyright protection” message when playing a rented movie?

You should clean the disc, because it may be dirty, has fingerprints, or smudges on the playback side of the BD disc, which normally occurs with rental videos.

3. Can Panasonic DMPBD series player upconvert regular DVD movies to 1080p?

Panasonic DMPBD series players can upconvert regular DVD movies to 1080p resolution if connected via HDMI to TV and the TV is capable of handling 1080p resolution signals. If it's connected via Component video cables, the highest resolution that a regular DVD movie can playback will only be 480p, while the BD DVD can playback up to 1080i resolution with this type connection.

4. Can the DMPBD10 or the DMPBD30 be upgraded to play profile 2.0 BD DVDs?

The DMPBD10 and the DMPBD30 will be able to playback the profile 2.0 BD DVD, but they will not have access to the special features which require internet connection. Neither of these models can be unconverted to Profile 2.0 due to hardware and software requirements.

5. What is the best way to connect the unit to a home theater?

The best way is to connect HDMI OUT from the BD player to the HDMI IN to the receiver/amplifier and HDMI OUT from the receiver/amplifier to TV HDMI IN
