S-VHS ET (Expansion Technology)

This amazing feature lets you use a standard high-grade VHS videotape to record and play back video in the S-VHS mode with over 400 lines of horizontal resolution*. Since standard VHS tape is less costly and more widely available, you can enjoy stunning video quality with great convenience. *For longer preservation and higher quality recording and playback, an S-VHS tape should be used. It is recommended that a videotape recorded in S-VHS ET mode be played back in the deck in which it was recorded. S-VHS ET playback is not possible in some S-VHS decks and in decks without SQPB.

Commercial Skip

During playback, you can simply press the CM ZERO button on the remote control to advance the tape in 1, 2, or 3 minute increments. This lets you skip unwanted scenes or commercials.

Index Search

By automatically placing a signal on the videotape control track at the beginning of each individually recorded program and assigning it a number, Index Search lets you access each program by entering the corresponding 1-9 keys on the remote.

Program End Search

This handy feature lets you find the end of a recorded program without repeated button pushing and guesswork. By simply pressing the SEARCH button twice on the remote control, you can choose Program End Search from the on-screen menu to help you find the desired tape location.

Ready to Play

When you plug in select Panasonic TV Combinations and turn them on, all available TV channels are automatically set. The time is also automatically set as long as your TV receives a local PBS television station with Extended Data Service. (Please make all cable and antenna connections before turning on the unit.)

Tape Position Display

The Tape Position Display feature is particularly useful when you are inserting a tape for recording, or if you are already in the process of recording, and would like to see how much time is left on the tape. When accessed, this feature will display on screen an icon that depicts your current position on the tape, giving you an accurate indication of the remaining tape length.

Home Theater Ready

Certain Panasonic HI-FI VCRs are the same width as standard audio components to help you create an attractive-looking home theater system.

Tape Status

On select models, if you press the "TAPE POSITION" key on the remote control, it will display on screen the actual recording time that remains on a tape.
